- Device and technical data — IP address (may be truncated/anonymised depending on tool settings), browser type, device type, approximate location derived from IP.

- Communications — if you contact us directly (e.g. by email), we keep a record of that correspondence.

4. Cookies and analytics tools
We use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how people use EduRater, so we can improve it. Both tools use cookies and collect usage/device data as described above. These are only activated with your consent — see our Cookie Policy for full details and how to manage your preferences.
- Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited. Data may be processed on Google's servers outside the UK. See Google's privacy policy for how Google handles this data.
- PostHog [specify here whether you use PostHog Cloud (EU or US hosting) or self-host — this determines where data is stored]. See PostHog's privacy policy for details.
5. Who we share data with
We share usage data with Google Analytics and PostHog as described above, under their respective data processing terms. We do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not share it with schools, local authorities, or the Department for Education.

7. About the school data we display
School information shown on EduRater (Ofsted ratings, exam results, attendance, admissions data) is sourced from public sector datasets — including Get Information about Schools (Department for Education) and Ofsted — and is not personal data about you. See our data sources and attribution for details.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. by changing your cookie preferences)
Because we don't hold accounts or identifying profiles, most requests will relate to analytics data tied to your device/browser — contact us at [privacy@edurater.co.uk] and we'll advise what's possible to locate and remove via our analytics providers.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe we have not handled your data properly.
9. Children's privacy
EduRater is intended for use by parents, carers, and other adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
